I have found there are two things which are almost guaranteed to cause a tumbleweed moment in social situations. The first is saying that I have never had a covid vaccine, and the second is saying that I hope Donald Trump wins the US election (and now, that I am glad that he won). I have found that reactions to both are similar: shock, disbelief, horror, disdain, incredulity, disgust or a confused mixture.
There seems to be a general assumption, at least amongst many people I know or come across, that no-one in their right mind, with a modicum of intelligence or seen to be a decent person, would ever support Donald Trump. The acceptable social position is that he and his supporters are deplorable right-wing bigots. Well, as you may have gathered by now, I am not keen on submitting to the acceptable narrative, nor ticking socially-acceptable boxes!
There are a number of reasons why I am thankful that Donald Trump won the US election, and I would challenge any Christian, or anyone who says they are supportive of traditional Christian values in society, to say why I am wrong. The following points are based on the policies of Donald Trump and the impressive team he has around him:
The plight of the unborn
Unborn children will have a better chance of life under a Donald Trump presidency. There will be less access to late-term abortions, more restrictions on abortion and fewer opportunities for dangerous ‘pills by post’ at-home abortions. Fewer babies in the womb will be killed and I am thankful for that. Children in the womb are made in the image of God and precious to him. Their destruction is not a ‘reproductive right’ and neither is it ‘healthcare’ or a good thing for women.
Free speech
Donald Trump has said that he will do whatever he can to end censorship, to remove the excuses of ‘mis-information’ and ‘dis-information’ used to censor, and to enable citizens to regain freedom of speech. This is a good thing. As I have heard Elon Musk say, the answer to mis-information is more information. If we want democracy and we want to discern the truth then we must have freedom of speech.
Healthy food
Donald Trump has enlisted JFK Junior (Bobby Kennedy) to ‘Make America Healthy Again’. One crucial element of this is to address the state of the food industry and the poor diets of many Americans which has led to an epidemic of obesity, diabetes and chronic disease. This effort will be a good thing for everyone, and especially for children.
The power of Big Pharma
America is one of the few countries in the world which allows the advertising of medicines to the general public, and Americans consume vast amounts of pharmaceutical products. Again, Donald Trump has enlisted the help of Bobby Kennedy to address this critical issue which is threatening the health of American citizens. Issues of pharmaceutical regulation, drug trials, capture of research institutions, drug advertising, vaccine harms and the monitoring of adverse reactions all need to be addressed with some urgency. I am thankful at the prospect of pushback against the immense power of the pharmaceutical industry and the harms being done to citizens through a culture of medicating far too liberally, with too little accountability and the lack of a holistic approach to health.
War
Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants a strong military, but he does not want to start any wars, in fact he wants to stop wars. His first priority is to do all that he can to end the war in Ukraine. I cannot fathom why that could be seen as a negative. I long for the war in Ukraine to stop. It should never have been allowed to start, and I blame the hubris and war-mongering of the West (including my own country) for that. I am thankful for the prospect of an end to the unimaginable loss of life and destruction in Ukraine.
Immigration
Donald Trump has said he wants to secure the American border and stop illegal immigration. Why would that be seen as a bad thing? He is not proposing to stop legal immigration, just illegal immigration. Why would any country not want to decide who it allows to enter? This issue is closely linked to crime, drugs, child trafficking and employment.
Net zero
Donald Trump has made no secret of his skepticism of the net-zero agenda and how damaging it will be for the American economy. He recognises the need for affordable energy, and questions the environmental claims of renewable energy production and net-zero technology. I am thankful for this as I see the obsession with net-zero as a cult-like agenda which is anti-human and very dangerous.
Gender ideology
The most destructive and abhorrent thing under this umbrella has to be the medical ‘transitioning’ and mutilation of children with ‘gender reassignment surgery’. Listen to any of the amazing and courageous ‘detransitioners’ such as Chloe Cole, and you will see the evil of this ideology. Donald Trump has said that he will end this horrific practice, and I am truly thankful. I hope the pushback against gender ideology will bring a return to women-only sport, women-only bathrooms and women-only changing rooms. I hope it will reinforce the understanding which has been held for as long as humans have been on this earth, that women are biological females and men are biological males, and that cannot be changed. Simple!
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1: 27
These are the reasons why I am thankful that Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States. It is not because I like him (perhaps I would if I met him, but I haven’t), not because I agree with everything he says, not because I think he is perfect (who is?), but because he has far better policies and a far better team around him than the alternative. I am particularly impressed with his Vice-President choice in JD Vance, an intelligent, principled, articulate and determined man. I wish we could steal him to be our Prime Minister!
To conclude, I am thankful for a Trump victory and optimistic for his presidency. Time will tell if his policies come to fruition and if his team are able to fulfil the mandate they have been granted. In the meantime I will pray for them, and pray that my own country’s leaders might learn from them and turn from their folly and destructive policies. Could it be that God is granting America a period of grace to wake up, repent and turn to him?

The longer the struggle we are in goes on the more apparent it becomes that incompetence must be struck from the list of possibilities.
Let’s hope the election signals the beginning of the end for the woke cult and other insane tools that have been deployed in the attempt to implement a global technocracy.
Well said. Remarkable just how many Christians still unthinkingly support Harris, presumably because they have not actually thought anything through...
